I disagree. When I listened to it, I thought of him addressing EVERYONE as a general public. I took the song as a lesson to be more self-aware and work on myself to be constructive and patient with the people around me to create sustainable change.

It said he wants to learn from her, someone who’s out doing it. He thinks of her as a true leader and gave some advice along the way and ended saying that he knows he’s not doing as much as he could be!

The focus was on the people who are being condescending, letting their ego take over rather than their love and educative ability. I think there’s too much focus on her alone. He’s speaking to the public, saying to just mind how you say certain things because it can drive people away even when you’re 100% correct.

He was asking people in general to educate one another and be patient as if they were children where the world doesn’t make much sense to them. Not to the lady in the song, but to the people who are struggling to understand institutionalized racism. He wanted to provide a word of thoughtfulness and love when it comes to stepping into the storm and confronting injustice. What if someone is just listening to this song without social media? They don’t know he was directly talking to someone. He didn’t say their name.

He had a lot to say after being on the streets protesting and seeing how people were responding to things. He wanted to speak honestly and make sure we were destroying each other in a mutual fight That makes sense. He was referring to the attitude of the general public who have good intentions but use divisive means when fighting against injustice. He's coming from a place of support and is just asking for ALL of us to be self-aware.
